The first AHC case reported to be diagnosed in South Africa is a 5 year old boy who is apparently not heavily affected.
As Flunarizine is not available in South Africa doctors prescribed Verapamil which reduced frequency, severity and duration of the episodes.
South Africa population is 56 million so it is very likely that many more children are undiagnosed in the country and we hope that by diagnosing the first case they will be able to find the undiagnosed ones.
